Portraits and Landscapes

Once
This photo has great lighting. The light is not harsh, but lights up the model's face. The background is not distracting but allows the photo more depth.

The Path
This photo is bland, but I personally like the loneliness it gives. This landscape has a deep depth of field.

Dark Portraits

Alone
This picture was originally bright, but turning it to black and white, the atmosphere of the photo dropped to one of loneliness. Since she is alone on the bench, it emphasizes that feeling.

Best Pictures Ever

Check Mate
Balance, background, color, lighting, perspective.
This photo represents balance because the frame is set well and is not crooked. It shows a good background, using a simple complementary back that draws more attention to the subject of the photo. There is an absence of color in this photo, only using basic yellows, blacks, and whites, which gives it a more solemn atmosphere. The lighting is one of the main parts of the photo, without the shining light in the back, the attention would not be spotlighted on the Queen and Pawn. This photo also represents a unique perspective, being taken from a low angel of such a small object allows the chess piece to seem large.

Burning Light
Color, balance, background, symmetry, perspective, rule of thirds.
This picture shows vibrant colors in the background, allowing the dark subject to receive more attention. This photo uses balance such as the previous, the horizon in the background is straight and not tilted. The background of this photo is also rather impressive. Although sunsets are usually taken as the subject of photos, this picture places the sunset in the back, which complemented the subject more efficiently. This is also an example of A-symmetry. Another example of an interesting perspective, this photo brings you down to earth level, allowing you to see the subject in another's eyes. The final factor of this colorful photo is the usage of rule of thirds. The darkness at the bottom of the image fills in the lowest third of the photo, while the subject of the photo is placed at an intersection of lines.

New Day
Color, rule of thirds, balance, perspective
This picture has an interesting set of colors. Although it has colors in simplicity, it gives a warm glow to the image. This photo actually breaks the rule of thirds. While the horizon in the background should be placed on the lower third, this is placed in the center. However, I enjoy the emotion this places into the picture. Everything is also well balanced, the background being especially balanced. The final factor of this photo is its perspective. While not being entirely unique, this lowers your view, as if being an animal prowling the grass. You get to see the sunrise through the tall plants.

Framing and View Point

 Colors in Spheres
This photo shows an interesting viewpoint of tacks on a cork board. Usually, we would look at these from a higher viewpoint, looking down on them from a further distance, but in this instance, we are looking up at the colorful tacks.

Needle and Thread
This is another instance of an interesting viewpoint. I noticed that we usually view needle and thread  from a far distance, usually considering it as such simple objects, but looking closer reveals so much more beauty. The details in the thread are visible, along with just how detailed the needle is.

Enriched Darkness
This photo shows the instance of framing. The subject of the photo is brighter, while the edges are dark, leaving a patch of light behind the subject to compliment its edges.
(This is of quarters with nickels and dimes stacked on them. The framing were books.)
